Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Meeks and I have been crowned as the current Miss N.T.H.S.R.A. My love for horses has been deeply rooted since I was three years old and I am thankful to own three quarter horses of my own at my wonderful Weatherford residence. The interest I have in horses is my inspiration to become an equine veterinarian and I plan to attend one of many Texas colleges that are well equipped in the equine science areas of study. As a senior at Weatherford High School, this will only be my second year competing in rodeo because I moved here from Massachusetts in April 2006. (no rodeo teams in MA) Moving across the country was anticipated as being incredibly difficult, but joining the North Texas High School Rodeo Association made the adjustment so much easier. I compete in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending on my six year old quarter horse, Doc n’ Zips Pistolena. I also want to try some different events this year, like goat tying and steer undecorating which is just one example of the new opportunities that NTHSRA has opened up for me. Now I look forward to every weekend during the rodeo season, because I know they will be nights full of friends, family, and fun competition. Because of this incredible association and its welcoming atmosphere, there have been many new experiences and friendly faces, not just for me, but for my family as well! It can’t get any better then that!
